Tsintaosaurus spinorhinus

The new reconstruction(right) and old reconstruction(left) of Tsintaosaurus

Tsintaosaurus(meaning Qingdao lizard) Belonged to the family known as hadrosaurs and was within the group known as lambeosaurinae, Tsintaosaurus history is not very long, it was first discovered in 1950 and described in 1958 by the paleontologist C.C. young. The fossils in those findings were very disarticulated leading to an incorrect reconstruction of Tsintaosaurus.

Old skeletal reconstruction of Tsintaosaurus

Now to talk about the looks of this unicorn of a hadrosaur. The only thing that makes it distinguishable from other hadrosaurs is its unique head crest, and because it belongs to the group known as lambeosaurinae it has been hypothesised that its head crest was full of air passages which would´ve allowed it to make low frequency calls. But because most of the crest of Tsintaosaurus is missing, we are still unsure if it had air passages. But i´m sure that soon enough they will find a skull of Tsintaosaurus, now lets talk about its general stats:

Length:8.3-10 meters

Weight:2.5-3 tons

Height:3 meters
